
Joan is a local girl who went to Aiea High School. She earned degrees in Fashion Design Merchandizing, Accounting, English Literature, and Nursing. Her first job out of college was nursing in the surgical unit at Queen’s Medical Center, and then moved to public health in the 90’s and did medical coding. In 2001 she decided to go into real estate because she was looking for a “fun job”. She started with
Watanabe International, and also was an agent for, Ivy K Realty, Keller Williams and now with Coldwell Banker Pacific Properties.
Her hobbies include bowling, drinking large amounts of tea at Starbucks, Aiea, and watching Korean Soap Operas on her iPad. And speaking of that iPad, Joan is a great social media guru. She has a presence in Twitter, Facebook and probably Instagram, and through the years of volunteering has earned the name, “Mama Joan”
Before REBI, Joan served heavily for the Hawaii Aloha Chapter of CRS first as the Advertising chair in 2007, which lead to becoming President in 2010. After her presidency she was appointed to various National CRS committees till today. She was awarded the prestigious CRS of the Year award in 2015.
In addition to serving on HAR committees such as Standard Forms and Education, Joan’s volunteerism is not limited to real estate. She serves as a leader at Pearlside Church and helps with the Alzheimer Association and Project Hawaii.
